Militarization of Campus Police

Police have been slowly militarizi­ng in this country for decades. However, it now seems that we have gone beyond just militariza­tion, they have started taking action like you see in the Middle East. People defending their right to protest are shot, and killed, here in America. Flash bangs, tear gas, and pepper spray are used indiscrimi­nately. If politician­s, and campus presidents in this case, took the time to hear the grievances­, all of this could be avoided. When people feel that they have lost the power that THEY have granted government­, they will protest. When confronted with violence by the authoritie­s they start out peaceful. These protest will eventually escalate to violence. Politician­s have lost the faith of the people, and they are just trying to hang onto power. The lessons of the Middle East are lost on our politician­s, and we will slowly devolve into the same kind of chaos.
